Architectural Competition Winners
On Olive is excited to announce the winners of its two recently completed architectural competitions. Cory Henry, of Atelier Cory Henry, won the National Black Emerging Architect Competition and Constance Vale of Constance Vale Studio, LLC won as the St. Louis Emerging Architect.
On Olive is a contemporary housing initiative with little precedent. The developers Emily Rauh Pulitzer and Steve Trampe have brought together a number of outstanding architects including Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, MOS, Productora, Macias Peredo, Michael Maltzan Architecture, and Howeler + Yoon to design residential homes for single-family and condominium housing within a three-and-one-half acre urban landscape. The project also contains a renovated historic building, and a fascinating mix of amenities and sculptural attractions including a pool, dog park, putting green and meditation garden. Many of the houses are already under construction on Olive, between Spring and Vandeventer in the Grand Center area of St. Louis.
It was the intent of the developers to include two additional architects to design homes in the project through the two competitions for a St. Louis emerging architect and nationally, a Black emerging architect. The houses of the two winners will be built as display models along with the Howeler + Yoon house on the north side of the street. Prospective buyers may tour the houses and select one of the designs to be built on a lot within the development. Many of the houses on the south side of the street are already under construction.
